Chris Wright - Wildlife Artist
A self-taught artist from Norfolk, Chris now lives in South-East London, combining his two main passions – as a professional artist and also as Senior Programmes Officer for the Born Free Foundation, specializing in the conservation of endangered species.
Shortlisted for the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year awards 2010, at which his work was Highly Commended, Chris is again in the running for the award in 2011, and his reputation continues to grow internationally, selling to collectors worldwide.
Chris’ debut one-man show at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham in 2004 was a sell-out, followed by a very successful solo exhibition at the cueB gallery, London in 2011. He has made regular sales at the annual National Exhibition of Wildlife Art in Chester since 2005, is an Associate of The Society of Feline Artists and was awarded a Gold Citation by The Wildlife Art Society International in 2010. He has recently been invited to become a signature member of Artists for Conservation.
Chris has travelled extensively throughout Africa, Central America, Europe and Asia, enjoying first-hand encounters with many of the animals that now inspire his work – and to whose conservation he is committed through his work with Born Free. Part of his commitment to protecting endangered species includes donating a percentage of his art profits to Born Free’s project work to help keep wildlife where it belongs – in the wild.
Chris welcomes commissions.
