Vic Bearcroft is an award winning pet and wildlife artist. He is completely self-taught, working mainly in pastels on velour, and specialises in wolves and Siberian Huskies. He also paints other wildlife subjects in pastels and also offers other mediums, such as pencil, acrylic and pyrography.
Starting out as a paying hobby for many years, Vic started painting full time in 2003.
The realism in Vic's work is extraordinary, often being mistaken for photographs. <.p>
Over the past few years, Vic and his partner, Liz, have established a close working relationship with the California Wolf Centre, situated in the mountains north of San Diego. The centre relies on donations to maintain a large pack of wolves, as well as breeding the once almost extinct Mexican wolves for release into the wild and educational programmes. Vic and Liz visit the centre annually, donating prints of his work for auction, and have raised in excess of $7,000 so far.
Vic also works closely with the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, where he carries out pastel painting workshops and donates 40% from all workshops to the Trust to use for projects to keep wolves wild in Europe. Vic has raised £2,831 in under a year for the Trust through his workshops and donating prints.
Vic’s exhibitions include, ‘Wild About Art’ (best in show 2005), Marwell Zoological society and NEWA. Vic also runs ‘Wildlife in Pastel’ workshops, and is much in demand for his demonstrations and teaching.
Limited edition prints are restricted to a certain number of prints worldwide, and once that number has been reached, no more prints will be available, this makes the unique and more sought after. Limited edition prints are delivered hand signed and numbered by the artist, along with a certificate of authenticity.
Open edition prints are not signed or numbered, so they are unrestricted by numbers. They are readily available and cost less to purchase than limited editions.
